Thanks To Walmart Foundation For Supporting Bright Futures 5K!

Bright Futures 5K is less than seven months away! Are you as excited as we are to run for charity? Here’s a new update that will definitely get you up on your feet: Walmart Foundation has donated $2,500 to Kids4Community!

What is Bright Futures 5K?

If you remember our update last month, we at Kids4Community were planning to set up a charity fun run called Bright Futures 5K. This is a milestone event, as it is the first 5k run event in San Diego to be organized by high school students. The event aims to help local homeless shelters through our partners at Interfaith Community Health Services.

By joining Bright Futures 5K, you can participate in our advocacy to provide food and shelter for the homeless, formulate mentoring programs for high-risk youth, develop self-sufficiency and employment opportunities, and come up with housing programs (both temporary and permanent).

Eager to join Bright Futures 5K? Take note of the event schedule:

March 25, 2018
7:30 AM
Embarcadero Marina Park South
200 Marina Park Way, San Diego, 92101

Aside from being able to lend a helping hand for the homeless, Bright Futures 5K is also an opportunity for you to meet the vibrant people behind Kids4Community! Expect a mix of different age groups converging in one location to raise funds for charity. Hey, if you see any of us, feel free to say hello and give us a high five!

Go to our > Bright Futures 5K Page < to learn more about the event, and register to run. You may choose between two types of registration:

Untimed fun run / walk = $20 per person

Timed run = $25 per person

> Your registration < includes a Bright Futures 5K shirt, and a finisher medal. We will be awarding the top 3 finishers across different age groups.

We’re really hoping that this event isn’t a one-time thing – in fact, this will be an annual activity for us. After this, we’re expecting more activities that put the “fun” in fundraising!

The amount that Walmart Foundation donated to Kids4Community will hopefully become a seed to raise even more money for future charitable events. Together, let’s believe that this $2,500 will grow into $10,000 worth of funds for giveaway products to be handed to organizations, as well as financial support for pro-bono services.

We also want to throw a special big shoutout to Philip Serghini of Walmart Foundation, for approaching us and initiating this effort.

Thanks To Walmart Foundation!

It warms our hearts to receive this generous grant from Walmart Foundation. The charitable arm of multinational retail giant Walmart has been handing out grants to schools and organizations in alignment to the foundation’s key focus areas (opportunity, sustainability, and community).

Here are some of the grant packages that Walmart Foundation is giving away to deserving groups and organizations:

Sponsorship of strategic partners in the legal department

Northwest Arkansas Giving Program

Canadian organizations focused on food waste reduction

Community Grant Program

State Giving Program

National Giving Program

In the 2016 fiscal year, Walmart Foundation was able to give $1.4 billion in cash and in kind. This year, Walmart Foundation has decided to donate to Kids4Community to help propel our charitable events for 2017. We couldn’t thank Walmart Foundation enough for its donation, but we’ll do our best to put the money in worthwhile activities that will help as much people as possible.
